SNOW DAY!!!!!

Last Thursday we had a monster spring blizzard that resulted in the one of the rarest, most coveted, awesomest of all events: the SNOW DAY. Once Josh was home safe from work we spent the day watching movies, eating rice crispy treats, drinking wine, and watching Man Tracker. We had never seen Man Tracker before, but once we realized that the entire show was based around one old guy on a horse basically hunting a young couple hiking through the canadian forest we were hooked. I don't even know what channel it was on, I think it was the Science Channel?? I really wasn't paying attention, but if you ever catch it, you're in for a treat.

In the end, we got more than a foot of snow in our backyard. The dogs loved it! Here are a few pictures from the day following the blizzard.

Good Description, Kid!

After my last post, my sister pointed me in the direction of this gem. I personally like "Double Head!!" best. Don't worry, you'll know what I'm talking about soon. Happy Friday!

People Love This Stuff

Today I was looking for a picture of a cat with its head stuck in a boot--weird, I know, a story for another time. Any way, during my google search I discovered there is an entire website devoted to "talking cats." Yes, talking cats. Check it out: www.talking-cats.com/all-talking-cats-09.htm

I can't believe so many people love looking at pictures of cats with conversation bubbles photoshoped in over their heads. I'm amazed. To each their own I guess.

Here is a sample of thier fine work.

Run + Walk = Rock!

First, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Second, according to the formula in the title, I rocked the Runnin’ of the Green Lucky 7K this past Sunday. Despite my combination of walking and running, I still managed to finish the 4.34 miles in under 45 minutes, which was my goal. Overall it was a great day. The weather was beautiful; after the race there was free beer; I got to dress up for the occasion; and we followed the race up with an impromptu BBQ. Great day!

It started a little too early for a few people.

My friend Catherine and I saw the race as the perfect opportunity to dress up and show a little Irish Spirit. Note our awesome outfits below. We got lots of compliments and won our self-instituted costume contest. I also got a few creepy, yet hilarious comments after the race.

Scene: Erin standing outside of the porta-potty waiting for Nicole near the corner of 15th and Wyncoop.

Imagine, in a German accent, a man and a woman yelling,

“Hey lady, lady, come over and see us. Yes, come see us lady! We like your outfit, come see us. Hey lady, I can show you where the pot of gold is. . .the rainbow ends here" (you can imagine where he pointed)

Shortly thereafter, another guys comes up and states, “I followed those socks for 2 miles, but I couldn’t keep up. I like your outfit.”

Nicole was laughing hysterically.

Catherine and I inspecting our lovely white tights. It was cold outside! They were necessary.

Finally, right?!

Two noteworthy items that both deserve the the response, "finally, right?!"

1. As of today, I once again have my very own library card. The library is right across from my office building, not even across the stree, literally down the sidewalk. I figure, in these tough economic times, I should probably take advantage of the free entertainment and information at my fingertips. It's crazy I haven't had one for so long! Now I am dangerous :)

2. Last night Josh and I had dinner delivered to our house. Did you know there is a place in Denver that will deliver steak. . . . at 8:30 pm. . . . on a Sunday?!

Erin's Current Top 10 Love/Hate Relationships

Sitting at home this past weekend I realized I am part of several unhealthy relationships. Hopefully discussing them will help me move in a more positive direction. I doubt it. Life's a bitch sometimes.

10. Cheese Steaks: The primary reason cheese steaks made the list is because I ate one yesterday. I went to Taste of Philly on West Colfax for the first time yesterday. It was delicious! So delicious in fact, I can’t stop thinking about eating another one. At the same time, I feel totally guilty for eating something soooo bad for me. I ate cheese whiz for god’s sake . . . At least it was just one. It took me a very long time to recover from the Cheese-Steak-A-Thons (yes, more than one) we used to do when Nicole lived in Philly. Good times though.
9. Softball: I love playing softball, but I really suck. I feel like I used to be more athletic? I actually sometimes wonder if I am worse now than I was as a kid. I think I might be. . .

8. Pepsi: Pepsi is like crack to me. I love it. I crave it. I get depressed when I can't have it. At the same time, I know it is terrible for me and I try to break-up with it on a regular basis. However, it always wins me back with its trickery and new fancy packaging.

7. Katy Perry: Yeah, her songs are overplayed, super annoying at times, and get stuck in your head for hours, but somehow I still like her. I don’t know why. I just do. With that in mind, please forgive me when you catch me rocking out in my car to Hot and Cold. I can’t help it.

6. LOST: I got hooked on this show back in 2006 after it had already been on for a few seasons. It was great because I could rent an entire season on DVD and totally geek-out for hours at a time. Now I’m all caught up and have to watch it on a normal schedule. Boo! I’m sick of getting strung along, but I’m hooked!! I wish I could just let go and wait for the show to wrap up and go to DVD, but I can’t. It’s addictive.

5. Work: It’s work, do I really need to say anything else?

4. Going Out to Eat: If you haven’t figured it out already, I happen to love food. It doesn’t help that I live in a neighborhood with tons of delightful food within walking distance or a very short drive. Even though I love getting yummy food without the visit to the grocery store and the clean-up, it is getting way too pricey. I need to eat at home more. I’ll save money and will hopefully eat less. Hopefully.

3. Target: This place is the bane of my existence. I don’t know how I find a reason to go there so often??! I also don’t know how I can go in to grab two items and end up leaving with a cart full of crap. It happens all the time. Curse their cheap clothes and the adorable items in their dollar bins!!!

2. Running: I am supposedly training for a race that is coming up in less than two weeks. Needless to say, it’s not going so well. I like the idea of running, I just don’t like the act. Instead of just zoning out I find myself thinking about reasons why I should stop running. I have to bargain with myself to keep going. It is ridiculous! I find me promising myself rewards of hostess cupcakes, naps, and shopping. I don’t know why the bargaining is necessary. I always feel good once I’m done, I just hate doing it I guess.

1. Riley: How can a creature so adorable, be so rotten once in a while?? She really is cute and I am head over heels in love with her, but sometimes I just want to punch her in the face. We recently had to confine her to the non-grass side of the yard because she was trying to dig a passage to China. She also ate Stanley’s bed. . . and a speaker. . .and rotten left-overs she helped Stan steal out of the trash, but it doesn’t matter, I still can’t stop myself from rubbing her tiny belly. I’m not very good at “tough love” I guess.
